Company opens second ‘gaming lounge’ at DFW Airport
A company that launched at DFW Airport in 2018 is now expanding there. Gameway opened its first “gaming lounge” in Terminal B, and has now opened a second one in Terminal E.
The business near Gate E17 has “an immersive and trend-setting gaming experience like no other” with gaming stations and headphones as well as a bar.
“Video games are something the majority of Americans play on a daily basis,” says Gameway Co-founder Emma Walbridge. “This is something where you’re able to decompress and really be able to go into your own world.”
DFW Airport says a lot of passengers might see the business after passing through the security checkpoint in the same area.
“They are right near a TSA checkpoint, so as people are coming in and see something like this, it’s like, ‘Oh, wow, this is something I can do to just kind of take the edge off,'” says Vice President of Concessions Zenola Campbell.
Campbell says, as DFW has grown, the airport has worked to provide passengers with a variety of activities whether they are waiting for a connecting flight or might be dealing with an airline delay.

In February, DFW announced plans for a sixth terminal, which is expected to open with 15 gates in 2026. The airport is also taking applications for 38 additional shops and restaurants to set up in Terminal F or expansions in Terminals A and C. The airport says it wants to provide passengers with an introduction to Texas brands and also brands known around the country. More information is available HERE.
The airport is also expecting its busiest summer ever with 25 million passengers through July.
“We’re very fortunate to have a lot of different options for our customers, everything from great shopping experiences to entertainment as well as the wonderful lounges we have available,” Campbell says.
Gameway’s Walbridge says after the company first opened at DFW, it expanded to six other airports, including Houston-Hobby, Los Angeles International, New York’s JFK and Charlotte-Douglas.
In 2024, the company plans to open locations at Chicago-Midway, two in Detroit and a second location at JFK.
“This concept had never been done in the world before,” Walbridge says. “DFW was the visionary that shared in our idea of making this a reality for their customers to come and have a little bit of fun before they board their flight.”
